As President of DECIMAL, Stéphane Gaouette has over 17 years of experience offering his dedicated expertise to companies in the information technology and finance sectors. More precisely, he has advised several corporations worldwide in cost management, business process optimization, project management and corporate modeling. As a member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec, with a specialty in information technology, Stéphane brings his knowledge and deep understanding of the finance and technology sectors to service companies, governmental organizations and manufacturing companies. In his capacity and many years of experience as Executive Vice-President, Stéphane Gaouette has brilliantly choreographed the entire spectrum of DECIMAL’s operations, more particularly those of the professional service team. As part of his duties and thanks to his deep knowledge in operation management, Stéphane quickly implemented a consulting-service strategy to fit companies’ specific needs in terms of performance management. Séphane Gaouette brilliantly leads the management accounting, quality-compliance and corporate governance divisions.
As the founder of DECIMAL, Christian Babbini has been lending his expertise in performance management by using methods and concepts of activity-based management for almost 20 years. Today, as Vice-President of the company’s Accounting Management Practice, Christian continues to participate in the development of performance management throughout Canada, more particularly in the field of strategic cost management. Christian is responsible for creating and developing the activity-based cost management software solution, and acts as an advisor in the implementation of such a solution. An accounting graduate from the Université du Québec à Montréal, Christian is a certified Management Accountant (CMA) as well as a member of CAM-I, The Consortium of Advanced Management, International which includes the most brilliant experts and thinkers in the field of corporate performance management. Christian also teaches courses on performance measurement in the framework of the CMA’s career development. As a regular guest lecturer in several seminars and conferences on activity-based management, Christian also wrote several articles on the design of financial and budgetary systems and other effective production systems.
Alphonse has almost 30 years of experience in the retail sector, manufacturing (particularly paper and pulp), consulting and financial institutions. Having managed a great variety of internal audit services in several private, public, semi-public and governmental companies, Alphonse has devoted the better part of the last 25 years to internal auditing. He executed several special mandates and audits, and was a member of several boards of directors. Alphonse was also President of the Ordre des comptables en management accrédités du Québec from 1999 to 2000 and was a member of the Conseil de la Société des comptables en management du Canada from 2001 to 2004 where he was recognized for his exceptional contribution and received the Fellow Award in 2001. In acknowledgement of his unflagging dedication to the CMA profession, the Ordre des CMA gave him the mérite du Conseil interprofessionnel du Québec award in 2009, which recognizes the remarkable contribution of a professional to the Ordre and/or to the professional system. Furthermore, Alphonse was President of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Montreal section from 2002 to 2004 and was also the president of the 58th International Conference of the Internal Auditor’s Institute, which took place in Montreal in June 1999. Throughout his career, he has been a member and still is a member on several international committees.
Stéphane Mercier has been applying his talent and expertise in management accounting for 17 years, 14 of those in management counseling. As a member of the Ordre des comptables en management accrédités du Québec and a graduate of the université du Québec à Montréal, Stéphane also holds a master’s degree from HEC. Having mostly designed multidimensional profitability/cost models in several industries (manufacturing, public sector, financial institutions), Stéphane has also participated in several conferences on performance management and was a lecturer in management accounting for Master’s Degree students. As a specialist of performance management and distinguished lecturer, Stéphane Mercier is regarded worldwide as an expert in his field.
Fluently bilingual chartered accountant and senior financial and risk management specialist, Brian Philbin has over 25 years of experience in successfully developing and managing client relationships. Brian has a solid leadership experience in finance, risk management, operations, technology, strategic planning, compliance and governance. Active in governance related areas with significant experience in situations requiring collaboration on matters of strategic importance with senior management, boards of directors and board committees, in both the private and public sectors, Brian has very strong communication skills in English and French. Brian is a university lecturer and conference speaker in risk management for two specialized programs at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales, and in enterprise/integrated risk management. Active member of the Québec Order of Chartered Accountants, of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Brian is member of the Steering Committee, Montreal chapter of PRMIA (Professional Risk Managers International Association) and of the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute as well. Brian likes to get involved in various causes, such the Montreal Association for the Intellectually Handicapped, of which he is the Chairman of the Board, and the Foundation for the Mentally Retarded (Investment Committee). |
