Stéphane Gaouette, CA, CA•TI
President
As President of DECIMAL, Stéphane Gaouette has over 17 years of experience offering his dedicated expertise to companies in the information technology and finance sectors. More precisely, he has advised several corporations worldwide in cost management, business process optimization, project management and corporate modeling.
As a member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec, with a specialty in information technology, Stéphane brings his knowledge and deep understanding of the finance and technology sectors to service companies, governmental organizations and manufacturing companies.
In his capacity and many years of experience as Executive Vice-President, Stéphane Gaouette has brilliantly choreographed the entire spectrum of DECIMAL’s operations, more particularly those of the professional service team. As part of his duties and thanks to his deep knowledge in operation management, Stéphane quickly implemented a consulting-service strategy to fit companies’ specific needs in terms of performance management.
Throughout his career, Stéphane has lead several activity management projects both for the private and public sectors. He also developed several management plans, software selection plans and corporate software implementation plans. Known for his expertise in project management, he has completed several mandates in business process reengineering and cost management. Also a lecturer on several occasions, Stéphane Gaouette participated in the writing of studies and books on activity-based accounting.
Today at the head of a growing group, with offices in Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa and Toronto, Stéphane Gaouette brilliantly leads the three divisions of the group, Management Accounting, Corporate Governance and Risk Management.
Christian Babbini, FCMA
Vice President, Management Accounting Solutions
As the founder of DECIMAL, Christian Babbini has been lending his expertise in performance management by using methods and concepts of activity-based management for almost 20 years.
Today, as Vice-President of the company’s Accounting Management Practice, Christian continues to participate in the development of performance management throughout Canada, more particularly in the field of strategic cost management. Christian is responsible for creating and developing the activity-based cost management software solution, and acts as an advisor in the implementation of such a solution.
An accounting graduate from the Université du Québec à Montréal, Christian is a certified Management Accountant (CMA) as well as a member of CAM-I, The Consortium of Advanced Management, International which includes the most brilliant experts and thinkers in the field of corporate performance management. Christian also teaches courses on performance measurement in the framework of the CMA’s career development.
As a regular guest lecturer in several seminars and conferences on activity-based management, Christian also wrote several articles on the design of financial and budgetary systems and other effective production systems.
Stéphane Mercier, CMA, M.Sc.
Vice President, Management Accounting Practice
Stéphane Mercier has been applying his talent and expertise in management accounting for 17 years, 14 of those in management counseling.
As a member of the Ordre des comptables en management accrédités du Québec and a graduate of the université du Québec à Montréal, Stéphane also holds a master’s degree from HEC.
Having mostly designed multidimensional profitability/cost models in several industries (manufacturing, public sector, financial institutions), Stéphane has also participated in several conferences on performance management and was a lecturer in management accounting for Master’s Degree students.
As a specialist of performance management and distinguished lecturer, Stéphane Mercier is regarded worldwide as an expert in his field.
Denis Archambault, CMA, M.Sc.
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Newly joined to DECIMAL, Denis brings over 15 years of successful experience in business management, with a solid track record in developing business models and industry intelligence to backup business strategies.
Before joining DECIMAL, Denis was president of VM6 Software Inc. a young Canadian start up company who rapidly gained recognition in the United States and brought in significant investments from first tier Venture Capital companies. Prior to VM6, Denis was head of a business modeling and business intelligence department for five years at Modelcom, a boutique shop working for Telesystem Ltd., a holding company with nearly 75 direct investments in the high tech world. In his early days, Denis was a consultant developing sophisticated financial and operational cost models for large industrial companies. These models where used to improve product and customer profitability through product remixing, process reengineering and customer pricing. As a consultant, he has had the opportunity to go from business to business for five years.
Denis has a master’s degree in management science (M.Sc.) and a bachelor’s degree in accounting (BA) from l’École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC), a world renowned business school in Montreal. He is also a member of the Quebec Order of Certified Management Accountant (CMA), for whom he regularly gives time to evaluate new accountants passing their certification.
Derek Sandison, B.Sc.
Vice President, Strategic Alliances
Derek Sandison recently joined DECIMAL as Vice President of Strategic Alliances. In this role, Derek will help DECIMAL develop and expand their international solutions reach through appropriate channels and partnerships.
Derek is recognized as a leading authority in the field of Performance Management, including techniques such as Balanced Scorecard, Business Modeling and Advanced Cost Management. He is an author, trainer and frequent speaker on these topics particularly in the real-world deployment of performance management solutions for critical business improvement.
Derek was founder and CEO of Sapling Corporation – early developers of applications and implementation methodology for Activity Based Management and Balanced Scorecard. On behalf of Sapling Corporation, Derek received the National Quality Institute Award for Innovation. On the acquisition of Sapling by Hyperion Solutions, Derek formed Hyperion’s Performance Management Division with a particular focus on international expansion of PM Solutions. Since leaving Hyperion, Derek has provided independent performance management consultancy services to over one hundred companies internationally.
Derek has degrees in Mathematics and Operations Research, is a Subject Matter Expert for the Consortium for Advanced Management International (CAM-I), and is a member of the Strategic Leadership Forum.
Henri Besnier, CMA, M.Sc
Vice president, National Capital Region
An expert in management accounting and financial management, Henri Besnier has over fifteen years’ experience doing consulting work for both public and private companies. He has used his extensive knowledge and expertise to oversee a wide variety of highly complex projects dealing with issues such as management methodologies, IT and financial / operations management.
Returning to the country in 2010 after five years in Costa-Rica, Henri is now in charge of DECIMAL’s national capital region team.
CMA and with a Master’s in Management Control, Henri has consistently offered invaluable advice and assistance on installing software solutions, whether for cost management, profitability or activity-based budgeting.
Henri is also very involved with the CMA’s national capital region chapter.
